Ah yes... another wonderful day at the barn.... had a pretty good lesson.... went back to some basics.... and then, as the past two Wednesday's have foreshadowed, Mario showed up. ::sigh:: We were totally prepared this time. Jen and Nora showed up just in time for the show since neither of them have seen Mario before today. He was riding Rubio and then Valentino. Below is a video of him working with Rubio... I think it speaks for itself.

"...gushing drivel spewed out of my mouth..."
Oh man! Mario was just starting to ride Valentino when I got done lessoning. So he’s on the outside of the fence as I’m cooling down Grace and I cut the corner so I can catch up to Mario. So I’m all stupid and star-struck and I’m like, “I saw you Saturday night at medieval times.” And then I’m sure some gushing drivel spewed out of my mouth about how wonderful he was as well. I don’t recall my exact words. So then he’s like, “You should have called me, I could have gotten you good seats. We can get good seats for friends and family.” I’m thinking, Doh! Of course! Why didn’t I call him?!? Maybe it’s because I’ve never talked to him ever before in my life. That’s just a guess. Anyway, so Mario says to let him know next time so we can get good seats. And then he says to come get a business card before I leave. And mentions how beautiful it is out today. More blush, gush and drool from me. So then I continue on my way.
Did I mention how well dressed Mario was? He had on this tan newsboy cap, really nice sunglasses, matching tan breeches, a white dress shirt with a sweater vest over it. Hot.
I continue to leave the arena and take care of Grace. The whole time I’m putzing with Grace, all I can think of is how Patti was joking about me throwing my “under garments” at him during medieval times. It was cracking me up. So then I’m just about to leave. He’s still working on Valentino and I’m afraid to go out there to get a card, but at the same time I don’t want him to think that I don’t want his card. So I watch for a little bit, then ask his camera man for one. He’s confused a little, but then Mario comes over and says something to him in Spanish and he gets me one. I proceed to thank Mario and gush some more before my exit. How embarrassing. I’m totally ashamed.
And then! I was totally daydreaming about my encounter with him all the way down River Road. Brutal.
Here's Mario's website. Disclaimer: he's way hotter than the first photo that opens with the web page. I'm not digging the stache. http://mchorsetraining.com/
PS. I had a lesson today too. It was really great. I was doing a short-stirrup course but cantering the poles of course. No jumpy jump for me yet. (My enthusiasm for my lesson kind of fell to the back burner when Mario showed up)
